May 1,2014 Avery's Coffee officially put on our shelves our own shop roasted coffee beans!!! To tell you the truth, we had been serving our own coffee for nearly a week but because it is such a traumatic thing to offer your own brand of coffee to the public, we decided to wait until we felt like everything was A OK before we told everyone that what they had been drinking for several days was actually our own offering.
The scary part was actually putting a face with the product. It's one thing to serve a product that you know is good but isn't roasted in your own backyard, to offering something that you think is good but is roasted in your own backyard. Well now that the cat is out of the bag, to heck with it, we are Avery's and we are proud. The coffee we produce is a great product. It will get better and better as the months and years go by.
So what are we offering anyways. The coffees that we will be offering range from a mellow Brazilian, Colombian, and Guatemalan, to a really nice Papua New Guinea. We also have a Swiss water Colombian Decaf and an organic Peruvian. Of course next week we will be offering our own Espresso Blend, a Breakfast Blend and a Cold Brew Coffee made with our own fresh roasted dark roast.
What is our roasting philosophy? Our roasting philosophy is to roast our beans medium. We believe that a medium roast is where the most flavor and caffeine can be developed in the bean. One exception to this rule will be our Cold Brew coffee. That specific coffee will be roasted to a medium to dark roast to bring out the smoky flavors that only can be tasted with the addition of time and heat.
So be praying for us folks. Becoming a roaster is no small feat. It takes a lot of time dedication and we have to suffer through all of those taste testings...lol
